The Art Group has steadily increased to the present 15 – 20 members. We meet every Tuesday afternoon at 1.30 until about 4 o’clock. We enjoy painting in Watercolours, Acrylic, Gouache and occasionally Oils, and exhibiting our pictures annually.
It is a very social group of friendly folk who find great satisfaction in what they do and would warmly welcome anyone interested, so just come along and see us.
The indoor bowling group meet every fortnight on Wednesdays, alternating with the Women’s Afternoon Fellowship. They meet from 2.15 – 4pm in the main church room.
Country Walking Group
The group started walking in August 1994, and on the 1st and 3rd Thursday mornings has been meeting ever since. Though not over large, it is very friendly and new walkers are always made welcome.
The group walk about 4-5mls in rural Leicestershire and Northamptonshire, followed by an optional pub/tearoom lunch which makes it a great social event. The walks are always pre-walked, not too strenuous and with kissing-gates replacing stiles increasingly suitable for all abilities.
Magna Music Makers
When a group of young wives were asked to sing at the Sunday Service of a Ladies Weekend, it is unlikely that two of them ever thought they would still be singing together nearly 40 yrs later.
Since that somewhat humble beginning Magna Music Makers have gone on to show their talent from the eisteddfod at Llangollen to the twinned towns of Wigston, Maromme in France and Norderstedt in Germany.
Other performances have been given in settings as diverse as the Mayor’s Gala Dinner, a Ladies Luncheon Club, Residential Homes and even a birthday party as well as 2 annual charity concerts, usually in the church, in the Spring and at Christmas.
This ecumenical group have three trips away each year visiting the East Anglian coast and various inland venues from Herefordshire to Yorkshire. For relaxation, good fellowship and getting closer to God’s world of creation, whether novice or expert, everyone is welcome to join this band of enthusiasts.
